Education is the Equalizer
Education is the backbone of a successful society. However, with the continuous war in the South Sudan area, most regions have have been affected significantly. Among the affected sectors is the that of Education. With schools destroyed and teachers displaced, most children have remained vulnerable. GEPO seeks to bridge the gap in the education for the vulnerable children by offering children books and other leraning materials. the organization also supports volunteer teaching staff to bridge the gap created by the displaced teachers. Despite our input we still have challeneges and seek for support of other interested parties to make these dreams a reality for these vulnerable children.

South Sudan is suffering from a water crisis. Although Sudan has suffered from water scarcity for decades, it’s descent back into war after the country split has further exacerbated this. The constant conflict within South Sudan has left the country’s water systems neglected or destroyed. Unclean water is the source of all ailments. As an initial solution, we have drilled small boreholes as an immediate help for the community members. We however, need to do more like drilling bigger bore holes that would also be used by the community members for domestic use and those for the animals. In addition, the water will also be used for irrigation in achieving the food security goal.

Establishing Food Security
Community Food Security is a system approach that addresses hunger and food security at a community level, including local infrastructure, economic and job security, food recovery and donations, education and awareness, and community food production and marketing. Just like with education, the war in South Sudan has greatly affected food availability thus leaving a majority of people hungry and highly malnourished. Coupled with severe climate in the region, a majority of the population remains vulnerable to hunger and other related diseases that continue to claim many lives. As an initiative of GEPO, we seek to reverse this situation through creation of sustainable food security model for boosting production.
